THROW A SMOKING EASY?

In Russia, tobacco first appeared in 1553, under Ivan the Terrible, just half a century after the Spaniards conquerors adopted the habit of Native Americans
to smoking. But all the kings of the pre-Peter epoch did not encourage smoking. Alexei Mikhailovich, for example, in 1649 issued a decree, according to which for repeated incrimination of smoking “green tobacco”, it was assumed “such people have nostrils and noses cuts. And after torture and punishment, exile to distant cities, so that, in spite of that, it was disreputable to do something else. ”
Only in 1698, Peter the Great, traveling around Europe, met Peregrin Osborn (in Russian-speaking sources he is often called the Marquis of Carmarthen). This absolutely wonderful person — an admiral, a shipbuilder, a duelist, a perennial debtor, a participant in military clashes with France, which did not prevent him from hiding there from his ill-wishers for some time — charms Peter, seeks the king to be presented with the most high-speed English yacht, and concludes with him an incredibly profitable seven-year contract for the supply of tobacco to Russia. All legal bans on smoking from this time in Russia are canceled. When English merchants remind Peter that Russians, especially the clergy, treat tobacco badly, the king promises to “redo them in his own way” when he returns home. Usually, everything that Peter conceived, he succeeded - it happened this time, and since then, nicotine addiction has been steadily marching around the country.
According to Rosstat, in modern Russia, 400 billion cigarettes and cigarettes are sold annually — 139 packs per year for each person, including infants and very old people.
An international study of GATS (Global Adult Tobacco Survey), the results of which are presented on the website of the World Health Organization, showed that 60% of men and 22% of women smoke in Russia - a total of 44 million people.
But the problem is not absolute numbers. In the same study, people were asked if they had attempted to quit in the past year. It turned out that a third of all Russian smokers recently tried to get rid of their addiction, but only 11.2% of them at the time of the survey reported that they had succeeded. The remaining 88.8% broke down and continued smoking again. And this is still a good result - we can assume that our compatriots have outstanding will power.
The Smoking Cessation Guide, which the UK Department of Health uses, says that even with a combination of drug support and intensive psychotherapy, a six-month cessation of smoking is possible for 12-19% of patients. The effectiveness of all other strategies does not exceed 10%. At the same time, according to the US Department of Health, 68.8% of dependents would like to quit4. At the same time, 52.4% of American smokers made such an attempt during the last year and 6.2% achieved success.
Generally speaking, against the background of such statistics, speaking of smoking as a bad habit is not quite correct. If you call a spade a spade, it is much more like a real drug addiction.

THROW A SMOKING EASY?

  1. Quitting smoking is easy, or false gain
Here, the opposite is true - the final part of the statement confirms the initial part in the form, but in essence it refutes and destroys it. For example, Mark Twain's well-known joke: Quitting smoking is easy. I threw fifty times. G. Heine, answering the question whether Mrs N. is beautiful, said: She looks like the Venus de Milo: she is just as old and as toothless. J. K. Jerome has such a comic phrase:
  2. Willingness to stop feeding
My baby is two weeks old, breastfeeding is not getting better. My nipples are inflamed, the baby does not look satisfied and friendly, I am also not satisfied. Help! Breastfeeding should be enjoyable, otherwise the human race would not have survived. From our experience it follows that breastfeeding is almost always getting better, provided that the mother receives
  3. I find it hard to accept the idea that we choose our parents. I read about this in your first book and I must admit to you that I still cannot understand this. I am a foster child, and I always want to see my real mother. Why did I choose a mother who decided to leave me?
To learn to love despite being abandoned. Since we always reap what we sow, an abandoned child is usually the soul that somehow abandoned its child in its previous life. Apparently, this is your case. Having forgiven your biological mother for abandoning you, you automatically forgive yourself. To do this, you need an open heart, a lot
  4. Nicotine addiction (tobacco smoking)
The reason is regular smoking. Symptoms Nicotine addiction is physical and mental. Physical dependence is an exacerbation of pain, a sharp deterioration in mood, a decrease in performance, a violation of the cardiovascular rhythm. Psychic dependence is associated with the creation of the usual course of action. For example, smoking while driving, after dinner, with bad news, in the company
  5. Smoking and breastfeeding
I am a heavy smoker, but I want to breastfeed my baby. Is smoking dangerous when breastfeeding? Smoking and baby are incompatible. Despite the fact that smoking is one of the most difficult to quit habits, you have to quit smoking for the sake of the child, for your family’s sake and for your family, or at least drastically reduce the number of cigarettes smoked. You risk the fact that everything you would not want
  6. Bad habits
At the moment, the negative effects of nicotine and alcohol on the cardiovascular and nervous systems have been absolutely proven. Nicotine disrupts the ability of blood vessels to respond properly (narrowing or expanding) in various situations and under stress. Alcohol, acting on the central nervous system, violates the nervous regulation of vascular tone. Both smoking and overuse
  7. One step from false opposition to absurdity
There is nothing more useless than universal rules. Thomas Macaulay In this chapter ... • It is better to eat, than not to sleep, or a false opposition • It is easy to quit smoking, or a false gain • Talking tomato, or absurdity • Cheshire cat and wit
  8. Want or have to
But what an interesting observation has arisen for me: if in my own speech one starts to manage with just three words: “I want,” “need” and “should,” then you can do amazing things and achieve absolutely incredible results! Imagine the owner of any bad habit, say, a smoker. Morning. - Hello everyone! How to smoke something you want! - Turn on the kettle, TV, too, and wash now?
  9. Tobacco Prevention
Control over smoking in society should be multidimensional and include: • prohibition of any advertising of tobacco products, as well as sponsorship of youth and sports events by their producers; • comprehensive information on the health hazards of tobacco products; • protection at the legislative level of the rights of people who do not smoke; • tax and pricing policies, as well as other economic
  10. Treatment of chronic bronchitis
If a patient smokes all his life, and irreversible changes have already occurred, it is useless to prohibit smoking - it will not help. But if it smokes for less than 20 years in a row, that is, there are no irreversible changes yet - quit smoking, definitely. If the profession is harmful - change. Hardening. Begin with rubdowns, massage the back with a towel with a towel between the shoulder blades. Bronchospasmolytic drugs. If non-obstructive - in

  12. Road going by going there
If you do not know where you are going, then you will never go there. That is, I want to say that if you are going to set a goal, take aim! "- You will not be so kind as to tell me, which way should I get out of here?" - asked Alice. “It largely depends on where you want to go,” answered the Cat. “I don’t care,” said Alice. - Then there is no
  13. Prevention and treatment of chronic obstructive bronchitis
The goal of treatment and prevention is to reduce the rate of progression of diffuse bronchial damage, leading to increasing respiratory failure, reducing the frequency of exacerbations, lengthening of remission, increasing tolerance to physical exertion, improving the quality of life. Patient education. The active participation of patients in the treatment process is one of the main conditions.
  14. Smoking and health
Without going into the historical insight of the appearance of tobacco, its reception, nature of production, etc., I will give examples of harm to health. Just the facts! It has been proven that smoking plays an important role in the development of many diseases, the main of which are: coronary heart disease, lung cancer, chronic bronchitis and emphysema. In addition to these death-causing diseases, smoking leads to persistent
