How can psychiatry help production?

The psychiatrist who works with the staff of the enterprise should be familiar with the mood of the staff and with the point of view of the administration. With this knowledge, he can influence the decisions of the administration for the benefit of the company's revenues, the health of managers and the welfare of all staff. However, at present there are only fifteen psychiatrists who are in full-time positions in the field of preventive psychiatry, dealing with the work environment, especially in enterprises and institutions where most people spend a third of their lives except for sleep. A production psychiatrist helps specialist administrators in the production of goods or services by making human use more humane and more efficient for the benefit of both the company and the staff. His main responsibilities are to teach the personnel manager to choose subordinates who are able to work well, at the same time get along with people and do this for a long time; train management personnel to make reasonable demands; teach administrators to administer only when needed; teach senior managers to trust most of their work to others.

Such training reduces the number of accidents and absenteeism, increasing labor productivity. Further, the psychiatrist spends some time in the medical department of the company, helping doctors and sisters to assess the condition of employees who may have emotional difficulties. He is ready to advise employees at any level. Conversation with him often allows department heads to recognize and solve problems regarding personnel and production. Sometimes the problem is the manager’s special approach to his work, for example, excessive custody of subordinates. Employees seeking help are usually thankful when they explain the reasons for such difficulties, and their well-being improves, if not immediately, then with time. The well-being of their wives and children is also improving, although they may not know at the same time why their dad has changed and freed from previous stresses. This is the grateful task of community therapy, which comes to the aid of so many people when they do not expect it.
