How hormones make a woman sexually

Females of the absolute majority of animals have sex only when they are capable of conceiving. But at this point they will not miss their own, and their desire is quite obvious to everyone around: everyone saw the cat in heat. In humans, fortunately, behavioral estrus, that is, a demonstration of readiness for mating at the time of ovulation, is absent (otherwise our social life would have become much more complicated). But women can have sex at any stage of the cycle. This ability was probably a very useful and important evolutionary acquisition - this will be discussed in the next chapters.
Nevertheless, like all other animals, we show maximum readiness for sex precisely at the time when conception is most likely. This is almost impossible to establish in the course of surveys, because such small changes in behavior remain unconscious, but one can test it experimentally.
When Christina Durant of the University of Texas recruited the subjects for her doctoral dissertation, she told them that it was a study on relationships, fashion and health. Nevertheless, as in almost all studies involving women, she specified in a preliminary telephone interview whether the woman is taking pills, whether she has a regular cycle and when the last menstruation was. After this date, visits to the laboratory for each woman were assigned in such a way that one visit occurred during a period of high fertility, and another - for a period of low fertility. To make sure that the calculations are correct, women also took a urine sample - ostensibly to assess the general state of health, but in fact for the sake of analyzing sex hormones. All these espionage methods were needed to prevent women from knowing,
that they participate in a study on the effect of ovulation on product selection strategies in stores, otherwise they could (more or less unconsciously) distort the results, guided by their ideas about whether or not ovulation should influence behavior.
In the first series of experiments, the subjects were put in a computer with a specially generated page of an online clothing store and asked to choose ten items that they would buy for themselves. On the site there were things divided into two groups - "sexual" and "non-sexual" in advance. It was found that ovulation does have a statistically significant effect on the choice of clothes: when averaging the results of all subjects, it turned out that in the period of readiness to conceive, 59.8% of sexual dresses were on average in their baskets, and on other days only 51.3%.
In the second series of experiments, Cristina Durant and her colleagues figured out what is associated with the preference for sexual clothing during ovulation - with a direct desire to impress men or with the desire to compete with other women. They recruited another group of subjects, but now women were first offered a different task: to rank ten photos of other people by their attractiveness. At the same time, a quarter of the subjects were rated photos of beautiful women, a quarter got ugly, and the rest evaluated men - either attractive or ugly. Immediately after this, the participants proceeded to the next task - choosing clothes in the online store, as well as in the first part of the study.

How hormones make a woman sexually

  1. Sexual sphere: a woman's duty
In general, sexuality appears as a sphere of reproduction, everything that goes beyond it is hushed up, tabooed, causes a shame in a woman.22 Childhood and adolescence are not supposed to have knowledge about the sphere of sexuality, the exception is knowledge of menstruation. It is not supposed to know about sexual life in marriage. The acquisition of knowledge in this field was accompanied by a feeling
  2. The content of hormones in the blood of women, depending on the age
    The concentration of protein and steroid hormones in the blood of healthy girls of the neutral period (0-6,5 years) {foto130} * Confidence interval of values taking into account the log-normal distribution of the indices. 741 Table 2 Concentration of triple hormones of the pituitary gland, steroid hormones and thyroid hormones in the blood of healthy girls of the neutral period (0-6,5 years) {foto131}
  3. Functional sexual disorders in women
Anorgasmia is the absence of orgasm during sexual activity. Frequency of occurrence is 18-40% among women who live sexually for at least 3 years. Alibidemia - a decrease in sexual desire or lack of it. In 90% of cases, anorgasmia and alibidemia are combined. Their main causes: neuroendocrine disorders; infection; intoxication drugs, sleeping pills, neuroleptics, tranquilizers; head injury
  4. The sexual consequences of cultures that have lifted excessive prohibitions from women
In Western societies, we can observe the world of men with significantly reduced sexual aggressiveness. In a conversation with an Estonian scientist I asked, what is the role of women in its edges as an attracting goal, a motivating motive for a man? It was clarified that the consciousness of Estonians is less than in the East pursued by a narrow "goal" - a woman. I asked the second question: "In this case, from where
  5. Hormones as mediators of regulation
Vasopressin (antidiuretic hormone) Place of origin: anterior hypothalamus with further transport to the pituitary gland. Mediator in osmotic and volumetric regulation. The mechanism of vasopressin formation can be activated by changes in concentration and volume, as well as a number of other factors: - increased release of free vasopressin → antidiuresis; under the influence of emotional factors,
  6. Adenomas of the pituitary gland are characterized by an increased production of hormones. What are the hormones (other than prolactin)?
Adenomas secreting ACTH (Kushin-ha disease) cause classic manifestations of Cushing's syndrome: obesity of the trunk, lunar face, striae on the abdomen, weakness of proximal muscles, arterial hypertension and osteoporosis (Chapter 36). Impaired glucose tolerance is common, but diabetes is less common (frequency <20%). Women have hirsutism, acne and amenorrhea. Adenomas secreting
  7. Women as part of the intelligentsia
Women as part of the national intelligentsia are a phenomenon of the Soviet era. It was during the Soviet period that the socio-cultural community of Tajik women was formed, which was considered to be the most progressive (progressive) social group in comparison with women from the working class and peasants. Their main characteristic - they all had a higher education, a profession and accordingly engaged in
  8. How does breastfeeding protect the health of women?
The advantages of breastfeeding for nursing mothers are that the longer a woman breastfeeds, the less she has the risk of developing ovarian cancer and pre-menopausal breast cancer, as well as osteoporosis (bone disease) and hip fractures in senile
  9. Servicemen-women as an object of educational activity in the military unit
In the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation at the beginning of 2002. more than 90,000 women servicemen, including 2,500 women officers, have served in the military. Of these, 24 colonels, 167 lieutenant colonels and 542 major. Thirty-four Russian female officers occupy command posts. More than 100 women officers are in the military schools of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and about 150
  10. But what about anemic women? Do not they take away the last strength from breastfeeding?
No. Anemic women are able to breastfeed normally, although for their own health it will be best if they are treated. Drinking tea while eating reduces the absorption of iron, so try to drink tea two hours after eating. Strictly speaking, exclusive breastfeeding can protect women from anemia, as it delays the return of menstruation. The
