FOREWORD

The ever-increasing living pace of modern technogenic society, the deterioration of the environment, diet, work and leisure, as well as the peculiarities of the reproductive behavior of our contemporaries, cause violations of adaptation mechanisms and cause a steady increase in the number of dishormonal disorders of the reproductive system in women.

The high frequency of menstrual dysfunctions, which constitute 60-70% in the structure of gynecological pathology, an increase in the number of hormone-dependent tumors of the genitals and mammary gland, and the increasingly frequent combination of gynecological pathology with thyroid diseases and other endocrine disorders, cause interest in endocrine gynecology like in gynecologists and doctors of other specialties.

In addition, the presence in the arsenal of a modern doctor of a wide range of hormonal preparations requires his high professional training and deep knowledge of the physiology and pathology of the regulation of reproductive function, as well as the mechanisms of action and points of application of the medicines used.

Summarizing the data of modern literature, many years of clinical experience and the results of our own research, we attempted to systematize approaches to the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of a number of dishormonal reproductive system disorders in women, which prompted us to write this book.

Outlining the material of this publication, designed primarily for gynecologists and endocrinologists, as well as for general practitioners and family doctors, we considered it appropriate to present modern data on the anatomy and physiology of the reproductive system and to illuminate methods for diagnosing dishormonal disorders in women.

When planning the stage-by-stage presentation of the material, we preferred in the first part to cover topics that may be of interest not only for gynecologists, but also for endocrinologists, neuropathologists, family doctors, etc. This is primarily the state of the reproductive system in pathology of the thyroid and dishormonal diseases of the mammary glands, modern ideas about the relationship of sex steroid hormones and the immune system, about the features of neurohormonal regulation in women with inflammatory

diseases, in particular with chronic recurrent candidiasis and with chronic fatigue syndrome.

In the same part, the principles of the use of sex steroids in clinical practice and their systemic effects are described, as well as gynecological pathology such as premenstrual syndrome, algodysmenorrhea, chronic pelvic pain syndrome, the diagnosis and treatment of which require the participation of related specialists.

In the second part of the book, problems traditionally considered to be "strictly gynecological" are highlighted from the standpoint of hormonal mechanisms for the regulation of reproductive function disorders - these are the principles for the diagnosis and treatment of uterine bleeding, uterine leiomyoma, endometriosis, polycystic ovaries, endometrial hyperplastic processes, as well as physiology and pathology menopause in women.

The result of cooperation with the Ukrainian Research Institute of Medical Rehabilitation and Balneology of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine (Director - MD, prof.
Babov K.D.) and the State Art Museum "Artem" (general director - Kachura A.S.) began writing a section that outlines the tasks and methods of psychophysiological rehabilitation, which, in our opinion, is a mandatory component in the rational management of this patient population.

This book is the result of the work of the team of the endocrine gynecology department of IPAG AMS of Ukraine together with the staff of the experimental and laboratory department (the head is MD, professor Tsyp-kun A.G.) and is published on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of our teacher, honored worker of science and technology of Ukraine, doctor of medical sciences, professor Ya.P. Solsky, who even today inspires us with his ideas and is one of the authors of this book.
