ADOPTION: MYTHS AND REALITY

According to statistics, about half of married couples who go to a doctor for infertility eventually find their child. For the other half it is impossible for various reasons. Nevertheless, such people still have some opportunities - for example, to make a decision to live without children. Or adopt an abandoned baby ...

Of course, none of us are able to make a fateful decision with ease and without any doubt, the path to it is always difficult and thorny. And yet ... Think - maybe, while you are in vain spending time in medical offices, your long-awaited child has already been born? The one, unique and inimitable, which is so far only a drop in the ocean of tens of thousands of similar drops of babies living in orphanages in our country.

Even an extraordinary step, even for me, you might say. And you will be right. Any normal person will think very hard before taking on such a huge responsibility. Moreover, there are a lot of reasons for doubt. Terrible things are told about foster children: bad heredity, a lot of psychological problems. How true is this? What difficulties await adoptive parents, is it possible to cope with these difficulties?

Indeed, almost every adopted child, despite the young age, at the time of meeting with potential parents already has its own development history, its own “bouquet” of physiological, genetic, psychological problems and peculiarities. Yes, these children need special attention, good doctors and psychological support.
But the main thing that they need is love. Love works wonders - even in an orphanage, where the situation is far from home, little vagrants found in basements or in the garbage can become good, smiling children in a matter of months. What to say about the house in which they waited so long and desperately for the baby ?!

Very much in such a family will depend on the adoptive parents. Will they be able to love their adopted child as their own, will they be able to overcome the difficulties of an educational nature?

Will they take the child for what it is, or will they remake it in their ideal image and likeness?

Adoption is not only a brave and kind act, but also a very important step. Therefore, before making such a serious decision, before you take on the burden of enormous responsibility for the future of the baby, you must be sure that you are ready to accept it with all the problems and, most importantly, know how to solve these problems. Raising a child who has suffered the tragedy of orphanhood is a noble but hard work. Experts say that almost all children adopted from orphanages, to some extent lag behind in development at the time of adoption. This problem is amenable to correction, everything will depend on how correctly the child’s physiological status is assessed and the characteristics of its developmental lag are determined. And only specialists can help in this: pediatricians, genetics, medical psychologists.

ADOPTION: MYTHS AND REALITY

  1. Myths and realities of adolescence
I’m not mistaken if I say that of all the periods of a child’s development, the most puzzling, difficult and even dangerous is adolescence. This is the very period that brings the biggest headache to parents and teachers, ordinary people and law enforcement agencies. This is the very period that gave rise to the concepts of “the problem of fathers and children” and “the conflict of generations”. Finally, this is the same age in relation to which

MYTHS AND REALITY, ENVIRONMENT OF PROFESSION
  3. Meaning of being high school students: reality and myths
The prevailing personality-undirected school education, spontaneous "learning" by the media led to the emergence of a new pedagogical subject-object, the ecology of which in the years of childhood, adolescence and youth determine:. fatigue from school and adults as sources of unconstructive suggestions and advice; . lack of an environment of constructive communication; . narrow circle
  4. Adopted child
Where there is a wheel, there is a path. Yes, you can feed a child who is not biologically yours. Stimulation of the nipples will lead to milk production, even if the woman has never been pregnant, and the mother and child can enjoy the closeness that breastfeeding gives. This is called stimulated lactation. Martha fed our adopted daughter, Lauren, for ten months. Here is what we learned about
  5. Myths and psychological realities
There are topics that are not simple, not unambiguous, among them, as I see it, is the topic of myth and its role in human psychology. In the conventional understanding, myth is an ancient legend, a symbolic tale, a cautionary tale or a kindred story, the wisdom of ancestors, encoded into a narrative that is filled with deepest meanings. According to generally accepted collective ideas, the myth is to create
  6. Myths about psychoanalysis
During the revival of psychoanalysis in Russia, these myths seemed natural due to the closeness of the topic in our country. Now more than 10 years have passed since psychoanalysis came out of the underground - a huge number of books on psychoanalysis were published, psychoanalysis institutions and psychoanalysis faculties appeared in many universities, the National Federation of Psychoanalysis was established, practitioners appeared
  7. Natural reality
Natural reality in all its forms in the human mind enters into the reality of the objective world and into the reality of figurative and sign systems of culture. We know that man came out of nature and, in so far as he can restore his historical path, he earned his food from the fruits of nature, created tools from nature’s matter and, acting on nature, created a new world
  8. About parallel realities
Our world is diverse, generous and abundant. Everything is in it. It is full of health, housing, money, love and other benefits! But mankind has saved material wealth! .. Tried to the glory! But each individual person organizes his own reality, into which he personally, voluntarily or under the influence of the environment, drags a certain list of objects, concepts and resources. BUT
  9. Historically determined realities of human existence
The condition for human development besides the reality of Nature itself is the reality of culture created by him. To understand the patterns of human mental development, one should define the space of human culture. Culture is usually understood as the totality of the achievements of society in its material and spiritual development, used by society as a condition for the development and being of a person in
  10. Myths about psychological counseling on the Internet
(based on the article “Myths and Reality of Clinical Work on the Internet,” written by the therapists of the International Society for the Protection of Mental Health Online) The psychological counseling on the Internet is a reality. At the moment there are more than 30 sites in Russian that provide psychological help online. Of course, this is significantly less than
  11. Reality of social space
Social space should be called the entire material and spiritual side of human existence, along with communication, human activities and a system of rights and obligations. This should include all the realities of human existence. However, we will single out and specifically consider the independent realities of the objective world, figurative-sign systems and nature, which is quite legitimate.
  12. Myths about psychologists
A psychologist himself is like a dentist himself. It hurts, it is inconvenient and fraught with complications ... Popular wisdom Not so many years have passed, as in our country, in general, the word “psychology” and such a profession as a psychologist became widely known. At the same time, the popularity of everything connected with psychology is enormous - this is also indicated by the competition for psycho-sexes (it is fashionable to be a psychologist), and the amount of “popular”
  13. The reality of iconic systems
Mankind in its history has given rise to a special reality, which developed along with the objective world, the reality of figurative-iconic systems. A sign is any material sensory perceived element of reality, which acts in a certain sense and is used to store and transmit some ideal information about what lies beyond this material formation. Sign
  14. Myths and symbols as regulators of combat behavior
Myths and symbols are important mechanisms for regulating the behavior of combatants. Myth (from the Greek. Mythos - the legend, the tale) - the story of the gods, spirits, idolized heroes and first ancestors, originated in primitive society. They are intertwined with the early elements of religion, philosophy, science and art. Myths in a figurative sense - false, non-critical, divorced from
  15. Myths about losing weight
Every woman, secretly or obviously dreaming of losing weight, at the preparatory stage for this event is faced with, alas, all of us inherent, laziness, unwillingness to “deprive” of something. The treacherous thoughts arise by themselves: “Don't, don't lose weight, you are so beautiful! What about our favorite steaks? You have so little joy in your life, do you want to deprive us of the latter? In the end, after two months you have
