ADOPTION: MYTHS AND REALITY

According to statistics, about half of couples who turn to a doctor for infertility eventually find their child. For the other half, this is not possible for various reasons. Nevertheless, such people still have some opportunities - for example, to decide to live without children. Or adopt an abandoned baby ...

Of course, none of us is able to make a fateful decision with ease and without any doubt, the path to it is always difficult and thorny. And yet ... Think - maybe, while you spend time in vain in medical offices, your long-awaited child has already been born? The one, the only and unique, which is so far only a drop in the ocean of tens of thousands of the same droplets of kids living in orphanages in our country.

Too extraordinary step even for me - you might say. And you will be right. Any normal person is very thoughtful before taking such a huge responsibility. Moreover, there are many reasons for doubt. Terrible things are told about adopted children: bad heredity, many psychological problems. How true is this? What difficulties await the adoptive parents, is it possible to cope with these difficulties?

Indeed, almost every adopted child, despite his young age, at the time of meeting with potential parents already has his own development history, his own “bouquet” of physiological, genetic, psychological problems and features. Yes, these children need special attention, good doctors and psychological support.
But the main thing they need is love. Love works miracles - even in an orphanage, where the situation is far from home, found in the cellars or garbage bins, little strollers in a matter of months turn into good, smiling children. What can we say about the house in which they have been waiting so long and desperately for the baby ?!

A lot in such a family will depend on the adoptive parents. Will they be able to love the adopted child as a native, will they be able to overcome the difficulties of an educational nature?

Will the child be accepted as it is, or will it be remade in its ideal image and likeness?

Adoption is not only a bold and kind deed, but also a very responsible step. Therefore, before making such a serious decision, before taking on the burden of great responsibility for the future of the baby, you must be sure that you are ready to accept it with all the problems, and, most importantly, you know how to solve these problems. Raising a child who has suffered the tragedy of orphanhood is a noble but hard work. Experts say that almost all children adopted from orphanages, to one degree or another, are lagging behind in development at the time of adoption. This problem can be corrected, everything will depend on how correctly assessed the physiological status of the child and determined the features of his developmental lag. And only specialists can help in this: pediatricians, genetics, medical psychologists.

ADOPTION: MYTHS AND REALITY

  1. Myths and realities of adolescence
I will not be mistaken if I say that of all periods of a child’s development, the most puzzling, difficult and even dangerous is adolescence. This is the same period that brings the biggest headache to parents and teachers, ordinary people and law enforcement agencies. This is the period that gave rise to the concepts of “the problem of fathers and children” and “generational conflict”. Finally, this is the same age for which
  2. MYTHS AND REALITY SURROUNDING THE PROFESSIONAL PSYCHOLOGIST
MYTHS AND REALITY SURROUNDING A PROFESSION
  3. The meanings of being older students: reality and myths
The existing personality-oriented schooling, spontaneous "training" by the media led to the emergence of a new pedagogical subject-object, the ecology of which in the years of childhood, adolescence and youth is determined by:. fatigue from school and adults as sources of unconstructive suggestions and advice; . lack of a constructive communication environment; . narrow circle
  4. Adopted child
Where there is a wheel, there is a path. Yes, you can feed a baby who is not biologically yours. Stimulation of the nipples will lead to milk production, even if the woman has never been pregnant, and mother and baby can enjoy the intimacy that breastfeeding provides. This is called stimulated lactation. Martha fed our adopted daughter, Lauren, for ten months. Here is what we learned about
  5. Myths and psychological realities
There are topics that are not simple, not unambiguous, and it seems to me that the theme of myth and its role in human psychology are among them. In the usual sense, a myth is an ancient tradition, a symbolic legend, an edifying tale or a story of a clan, the wisdom of ancestors encoded into a narrative that is filled with the deepest meanings. According to generally accepted collective ideas, myth is creation
  6. Myths of Psychoanalysis
During the revival of psychoanalysis in Russia, these myths seemed natural due to the closed topic in our country. Now more than 10 years have passed since psychoanalysis has gone underground - a huge number of books on psychoanalysis have been published, institutes of psychoanalysis and faculties of psychoanalysis have appeared in many universities, the National Federation of Psychoanalysis has been created, and practitioners have appeared
  7. Natural reality
Natural reality in all its forms in the consciousness of man enters into the reality of the objective world and into the reality of figurative and symbolic systems of culture. We know that man has come out of nature and, to the extent that he can restore his historical path, he “got the sweat” obtained food from the fruits of nature, created tools from the matter of nature and, acting on nature, created a new world
  8. About parallel realities
Our world is diverse, generous and abundant. It has everything. It is full of health, housing, money, love and other blessings! And mankind has accumulated material wealth! .. I tried my best! But each individual person organizes for himself his own reality, into which he personally, at his own request or under the influence of the environment, drags in a certain list of objects, concepts and resources. BUT
  9. Historically determined realities of human existence
In addition to the reality of Nature itself, the condition for the development of man is the reality of culture created by him. To understand the patterns of human mental development, the space of human culture should be defined. Culture is usually understood as the totality of the achievements of society in its material and spiritual development, used by society as a condition for the development and being of a person in
  10. Myths About Psychological Counseling On The Internet
(Based on the article “Myths and the Reality of Clinical Work on the Internet” written by the research group of therapists of the International Society for the Protection of Mental Health Online) Psychological counseling on the Internet is a reality. At the moment, there are more than 30 sites in Russian that provide online psychological assistance. Of course this is significantly less than
  11. Reality of social space
Social space should be called the entire material and spiritual side of human being, along with communication, human activities and the system of rights and obligations. This should include all the realities of human existence. However, we will single out and specifically consider the independent realities of the objective world, figuratively-sign systems and nature, which is completely legitimate.
  12. Myths about psychologists
A psychologist to himself is like a dentist to himself. It is painful, uncomfortable and fraught with complications ... Popular wisdom Not many years have passed, as in our country, in general, the word "psychology" and such a profession as a psychologist have become widely known. At the same time, the popularity of everything related to psychology is enormous - this is evidenced by the competition for psychology faculties (it’s fashionable to be a psychologist), and the amount of “popular”
  13. The reality of figurative systems
Humanity in its history has generated a special reality that developed along with the objective world - the reality of figurative-sign systems. A sign is any material sensually perceived element of reality that acts in a certain meaning and is used to store and transmit some ideal information about what lies beyond this material formation. Sign
  14. Myths and symbols as regulators of combat behavior
Significant mechanisms for regulating the behavior of combatants are myths and symbols. Myth (from the Greek. Mythos - tradition, legend) - a story about gods, spirits, deified heroes and first ancestors that arose in primitive society. They intertwined the early elements of religion, philosophy, science and art. Myths in the figurative sense - false, uncritical, divorced from
  15. Slimming Myths
Every woman who secretly or clearly dreams of losing weight, at the stage of preparation for this event, is faced, alas, with all of us characteristic, laziness, unwillingness to “deprive herself” of something. By themselves, treacherous thoughts arise: “Do not, do not grow thin, you are already beautiful! But what about our favorite steaks? You have so little joy in life, do you want to deprive us of the last? In the end, after two months you have
