Stage 1. Theoretical information

At this stage, the content of such concepts as "gender representations", "gender stereotypes", "gender bias", "models of gender relations" and "gender competence" are discussed.

The teacher complements and clarifies the answers of students, in which they disclose the content of the basic concepts of the topic.

In the process of discussing the notion of "gender competence", it is important to emphasize the following: a gender-competent person, due to egalitarian gender notions and the absence of pronounced gender stereotypes and gender biases, is able to notice the situations of gender inequality, analyze them and adequately assess them, and demonstrate the ability to solve gender problems.

Gender competence can be formed and developed in the course of specially organized practical exercises, on which a person can understand and evaluate the characteristics of his gender competence.
If during the classes the trainees will be able to understand the values of gender equality and justice as their own, they will learn to suppress their gender prejudices, and weakly biased students will feel guilty in situations of discriminatory behavior, the task of increasing the gender competence of trainees will be achieved.
