This book is not a textbook or a political manifesto, but it is written based on certain beliefs shared by all authors. These beliefs are that biological, psychological, social, religious, and any other differences between people should not lead to their inequality - including gender inequality. We are also convinced that every man and woman is not obliged to subordinate his ideas about masculinity and femininity to neither traditions, nor political prescriptions, nor stereotypes. Moreover, all these regulations are quite contradictory, and many of them are based on outdated or simply unreliable knowledge.

Conservative thinking is a natural reaction to the rapid changes that have occurred over the past few decades, deeply affecting family relationships, sexuality, behaviors acceptable to both sexes. But, despite the fact that these changes have brought new, previously unknown problems to life, it is simply impossible to “undo” them and go back, especially in the depth of ages, to “Domostroi”, even if this prospect seems attractive to someone. Everyone is probably interested in harmonizing gender relations - the state, citizens, ideologues, clergymen, only this harmony may be presented to them in different ways. One thing is understood - "this stuffing is no longer to be scrolled back."
At the beginning of the third millennium, gender relations cannot be as they were a hundred or even fifty years ago, and the mass transformation of women into obedient housewives is realistic to the same extent as the return of serfdom.

Modern society is a risk society, and the feeling of instability often gives rise to social anxiety about one or another phenomenon, the so-called moral panic. Especially a lot of moral panic arises in connection with gender issues: a drop in the birth rate, a change in the forms of family life, unusual forms of sexuality. Nobody says that any changes should be welcomed, but panic is a bad adviser, it does not help to solve the problem.

In order to “cure”, in particular, the demographic situation, it is necessary to pursue an intelligent policy based on the real characteristics of modern men and women and taking into account their true aspirations and needs, rather than appeal to the feelings of hypothetical citizens - such as ideologists would like to see. and politicians.
