Instruction No. 154.021.98 IP for the use of “Disposable sterilization indicators IS-120, IS-132, IS-160, IS-180” for monitoring the parameters of the operating modes of steam and air sterilizers

In air sterilizers, control tests are placed at least 5 cm from the walls of the sterilization chamber.
At least one indicator is placed at each point. Indicators IS-160 and IS-180 are attached with an indicator layer outward from the outside of the packages with sterilized products. Fastening is carried out: on packages of polymeric and paper materials and sterilization boxes - with a self-adhesive tape for sterilization, to the tags of sterilization boxes - with a self-adhesive tape for sterilization, a stapler or a paper clip. It is allowed to place indicators inside packages without sterilized products.
The indicators IS-120 and IS-132 are fixed in the same way, placing them both inside the sterilization boxes or packages, and outside.
At the end of the sterilization cycle, the indicators are removed for comparison with the standard. If the color of all indicators matches or darker than the color of the standard, then this indicates compliance with the required sterilization parameters. In this case, a difference in the color of the indicators used between themselves is possible due to the permissible temperature unevenness in the sterilizer. On the indicators IS-120 and IS-132 after processing in the sterilizer, the presence of dark dotted inclusions is allowed, which do not affect the overall color of the indicator.
If the color of the indicator at one or several control points is lighter than the standard, then this indicates non-compliance with the parameters of the sterilization mode. In this case, the entire batch of products is considered unsterilized and is subject to re-sterilization.
When repeating unsatisfactory control results, the operation of the sterilizer is stopped and its technical condition is checked, compliance with the sterilizer loading rules and the correct setting of parameters. The sterilizer is allowed to be used after eliminating the reasons for its unsatisfactory performance and obtaining positive control results.
Used indicators can be pasted into the sterilization accounting journal (form 257 / у) in the columns allocated for this and stored as an archive document for 6 months. For gluing, you can use stationery glue (for example: PVA, glue sticks), except silicate.
