Edited by V.N. Kovalenko Manual of Cardiology. Part 1 2008
The first fundamental clinical guidance on cardiology, prepared by leading specialists of the main profile institution of Ukraine - NSC "Institute of Cardiology named after. N.D. Strazhesko »of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine. From the huge volume of modern scientific and medical information, the authors selected the most important information for the practitioner, which are conveniently grouped into logical sections in the manual according to the relevant clinical sections. In the presentation of the material, the principles of evidence-based medicine adopted worldwide are used. The publication contains information on the epidemiology of cardiovascular diseases, modern views on their etiology and pathogenesis, the latest data on modern methods of diagnosis and treatment, based on the results of recent multicenter clinical studies and current recommendations of international expert organizations, as well as on the extensive experience of the authors of the manual. Great attention is paid to preventive aspects of cardiology. Separate sections of the publication are devoted to interventional methods of treatment in cardiology, special aspects of clinical pharmacology, standards for diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the cardiovascular system. The book is intended for a wide range of specialists: cardiologists, rheumatologists, cardiosurgeons, resuscitators, therapists, family doctors, scientists, and students of medical institutes.

The practical guide outlines the current approaches to the formulation of the clinical diagnosis for the most common cardiovascular diseases, as well as the complex information needed for practitioners to formulate the diagnosis. The requirements for a unified structure of the diagnosis are outlined, the domestic and international clinical classifications are summarized taking into account the current state of the issue and clinical recommendations, examples of the formulation of diagnoses and recommendations for the selection of ICD-10 codes are used that are used to fill a number of statistical records in medical practice.
