The criteria of psychology as a science

• Science is the sphere of human activity, the main function of which is the generation of knowledge about the world, its systematization, building on their basis the image of the world (scientific picture of the world) and ways of interacting with it (science-based practice).

• The object of science - that side of reality, the study of which this science is aimed at.

• The subject of science - what are the sides of the object being studied in science; part of the object studied by a particular science.

• Theories - attempts at a holistic view of the laws and essential properties of certain areas of reality that arise on the basis of hypotheses (assumptions about these connections and properties).

• Laws are open, stable connections between phenomena, the wording of which allows us to describe, explain and predict the phenomena of objective reality.

• Research methods - sound standardized methods of organizing research activities; scientifically substantiated special methods and techniques for obtaining reliable knowledge.

• Conceptual and categorical apparatus - forms of allocation, receipt, fixation and transfer of scientific knowledge; a system of terms used by a particular science (language of science).
