With the use of the possibility to activate the deep resources of the personality, the previous experience, the realization of skills and abilities, the most important stages here are the choice of the type and direction of the activity, the formation and development of professional competence, the active definition of one's position in relation to socially significant values ​​and conditions of life in society .

Availability of vital resources, necessary and sufficient for successful exit from life difficulties (resource element). Psychological sustainability is supported by internal (personal) resources and external (interpersonal, social support). Personality resources that support psychological stability and adaptation can be represented by factors of the social environment (factors supporting self-esteem, promoting self-regulation and adaptation) and personal factors (optimistic, active attitude to the life situation as a whole, philosophical attitude to difficult situations, confidence and independence in relationship with other people, lack of hostility, open communication, tolerance, a sense of community, satisfying status in a group and society, coherence I-real and self-ideal, belief in the attainability of the goals, understanding and sense of the meaning of life, the meaningfulness of activity and behavior, the setting that you can dispose of your life, the dominance of scenic positive emotions, emotional saturation from interpersonal interaction, an understanding of the life situation and the possibility of its prediction, an adequate estimate of the magnitude of the load and its resources.

The presence of organizational qualities that contribute to the process of disclosure of the adaptive potential (organizational element): the ability to solve common organizational problems; determine their own behavior pattern; to master specific ways of effective planning; remember that the more control is lost, the greater the stress; master the ability to turn negative events into positive ones; in stressful situations learn to relax in time; give yourself the energy of positive thinking; deeper understand what is happening in situations of acute stress; to master the technique of disconnecting from negative situations; learn to recognize stress in a timely manner; Do not avoid the recommendations of kinesiology.

The study of potential as a resource actively displayed by an individual in the environment in the process of adaptation allows us to define it as an adaptation potential.

The source of most of the psychological (as well as many social) problems is hidden in the contradiction of the biological and social evolution of man: in the inconsistency of the mechanisms of emotional response inherent in the human body by nature, and the way of life of modern man, which imposes numerous "taboos" (according to Freud) his behavior and ways of emotional reaction. To remove this contradiction, it seems necessary to resort to the internal reserves of man - his personal potential.

Researchers of different years have traditionally viewed the potential as "hidden opportunities", a "source" in achieving goals, as that "inner direction" that gives human life a higher value and value.

From the position of psychology exploring the potential as a psychological phenomenon, it is a process of continuous self-improvement and striving to achieve the heights of personal professional development of man and the realization of creative abilities and abilities.

In these approaches, it is common to study the potential as a resource actively displayed by an individual in the environment.

The personal potential is formed under the influence of subjective (internal) and objective (external) conditions. At the same time, the higher the personal potential, the more harmonious is the interaction of a person with the surrounding world, the more opportunities for personal and professional growth of the person. The potential of an individual person is transformed into social value through the mechanisms of self-realization.

The idea of ​​human development is associated with the disclosure of the available potential and the consolidation of the properties that are formed; and "growth" - is associated with the acquisition of new properties and qualities. Both development and growth are inextricably linked in the evolution of man and human cognition.

The most important condition for the effective functioning of the individual is the ability to change one's goals and strategies for achieving them. An adaptive person is able to adjust his goals and plans to take advantage of new opportunities, and can also reconcile opposing demands: uniformity and diversity, stability of change, adaptation and self-regulation.

To understand the essence of adaptation, it is important to know that personal regulation allows transformation of a structural organization that involves both the formation of new mental properties, and the complication of existing and the manifestation of latent ones. Among the new properties can be attributed adaptation, reflecting the extent and direction of actualization of the available adaptation potential. The change in the content of personal regulation demonstrates the high adaptive plasticity of the personality necessary to preserve integrity when interacting with a dynamic social environment.

The success of the adaptation process depends on the choice of life strategies, is determined by the ability to anticipate the situation, predict the outcome of events. In human studies and psychological studies, there is an awareness of the fact that "the excessive interest in the humanities and social studies in quantitative methods of exact sciences, and especially statistics, sometimes obscures the understanding that the methodological basis of modern exact sciences are not so much measurement methods as the principles of abstraction. The absence of measurable characteristics of the object of investigation does not mean the impossibility of its generalized analysis, even if of qualitative, but assuming some abstraction.
