Responsibilities of the psychologist part

(from the order of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation of 1995 No. 226)



The psychologist of the regiment (ship of the 1st rank) is responsible for the state and organization of psychological work in the interests of educating personnel, strengthening their moral and psychological state and maintaining the psychological stability of the military. He reports to the deputy commander of the regiment (ship of the 1st rank) for educational work.

Psychologist of the regiment (1st rank ship):

• must know the psychological qualities of the military, study the socio-psychological processes in the regiment (on the ship) and units, develop proposals and participate in the tasks set by the commander to create a healthy moral and psychological climate in military teams, strengthen military discipline and prevent crime;

• is responsible for the organization and conduct of psychological work to maintain combat and mobilization readiness, to implement plans for combat training, combat duty and combat service, guard and internal services, daily and combat activities of a regiment (ship);

• in conjunction with the medical service of the regiment (ship), it identifies and conducts constant monitoring of military personnel with signs of neuropsychic instability, provides them with psychological assistance;

• personally holds events and is responsible for the psychological adaptation of military personnel to the conditions of military service;

• takes part in the professional psychological selection of the personnel of the regiment (ship), participates in its placement in units and military specialties;

• personally organizes and provides psychological assistance to military personnel and members of their families, civilian personnel;

• is responsible for organizing interaction with the medical service of the regiment (ship) and conducting psychological work to maintain the mental health of personnel;

• is responsible for the methodological support of classes in psychological and pedagogical training with officers, warrant officers (midshipmen), sergeants (foremen);

• is responsible for taking measures to counteract the negative psychological impact on personnel and develops proposals to commanders to increase the psychological stability of military personnel;

• is obliged to comply with the ethical standards of the psychologist’s professional activity, to prevent the use of the information received to the detriment of military personnel and members of their families, civilian personnel;

• participates in the development of the material and technical base of psychological work;

• informs on the measures taken by senior officials who organize psychological work.
