Psychology of the military team
The psychology of a military collective is a complex set of intracollective socio-psychological phenomena and processes, one of the aspects of its spiritual life. It is the result of the unification, summation of the psychology of individuals - members of this team.
The following most important components in the structure of the psychology of a military collective should be distinguished:
public (collective) opinion, collective views;
collective interests, needs, requests, aspirations;
collective traditions, habits, customs;
collective moods, social feelings, panic manifestations;
interpersonal relationships, communication, mutual evaluations, claims, requirements, etc.
A leader of any rank should be able to correctly assess the socio-psychological characteristics of a military team, i.e. to reveal the content of the structural components of the collective psychology, to identify its socio-psychological characteristics and determine their impact on the implementation of combat training tasks and military discipline,
For this, firstly, it is necessary to analyze the nature of public opinion as the whole personnel, and certain categories of military personnel - officers, warrant officers, junior commanders, rank and file; to reveal how public opinion contributes to the strengthening of military discipline; identify the core - carriers of healthy public opinion; determine the presence of other group opinions, the degree of their discrepancy with the dominant in the collective * of their carriers, the causes of occurrence.
It is known that each warrior voluntarily or involuntarily commensurate his actions and actions with the opinion of the commander and the majority of the personnel, as well as the most respected colleagues.
Power and experience, respect and trust make every word of the commander, boss authoritative and impressive. In order to properly influence people, an officer must avoid rash judgments and conclusions. Psychologists recommend: before pronouncing any thought out loud, the officer should carefully think through it, as it will certainly affect the behavior of subordinates.
The convincing and categorical words of the commander, as evidenced by the practice of everyday life, do not leave a shadow of doubt in the correctness and clarity of his position, especially in combat conditions.
Greater success is achieved by those commanders and commanders who respond in a timely manner to the cognitive needs and interests of subordinates with the help of stable feedback from each soldier, and improve the quality of individual educational work. Everyday practice convincingly confirms that the higher the quality of an individual impact on a warrior, the sharper his vigilance and more effective collective opinion.
The socio-psychological characteristic of a military collective includes, secondly, an assessment of collective positive moods, their forms of manifestation; reasons for the emergence of negative moods among subordinates and their carriers; features of their influence on the performance of combat missions.
Collective moods, social experiences are an important component of the structure of the psychology of a military collective. These are joint experiences of certain events, facts, as well as similar emotional states that for some time have taken possession of the entire military collective or part of it and affecting its life and work.
Collective moods have a strong influence on the behavior of military personnel, are reflected at the level of military discipline and organization, on the effectiveness of their military labor. At the same time, one collective mood (“major”) contributes to the success of the military team — enthusiasm, faith in overall success, dedication, elation, state of general uplift; the other ("minor"), on the contrary, sharply reduces the collective's capabilities - a state of decline, disbelief in one's own strengths, comrades, military equipment and weapons, general despondency, depression.
