Military psychology as a branch of psychological science

At present, more than ever, the hopes of military specialists and leaders of all levels are focused on military psychology. These expectations are associated with the special - applied role of military psychological science in ensuring the effectiveness of the vital activity of troops in both peacetime and wartime. In connection with the inclusion in the combat manuals of the types of the Armed Forces of a section devoted to the moral and psychological support of all stages of the dynamics of combat, the importance of military psychology has grown immeasurably. The role of specialists who were called upon to engage in analytical and prognostic activities in planning and organizing the psychological support of military operations, developing recommendations and proposals for decisions of commanders for this type of activity was clearly highlighted.
Mastering the techniques (technologies) of managing mental states, the performance of warriors in all phases of a combat situation could reveal the secrets of combat strength, the stability of their troops and outline key points that contribute to mental oppression and weakening the enemy. Psychological support of managerial processes in peacetime is also aimed at achieving victory in battle. Here, military psychology can play its applied role, arming the leaders of military collectives with methods of effective training and education of soldiers, their psychological preparation.
