Art of self-control
During my stay in India, I met some wonderful people. One of them helped me "clean up my library." Returning to America, I plunged into the practice of meditation and practiced Hatha Yoga. I read the writings of many spiritual teachers and clearly saw what connected them all. However, I was not fully aware of the essence of this connection.
I met Hugo Corey quite by chance in a trendy cafe on Green Street in Soho. Chatting with him was for me one of the most amazing revelations in my whole life. Hugo described his methodology as the development of character integrity through self-control training.
In his practice, he uses the simplest advice, which sounds almost superficially during an informal conversation, but in reality is an effective transformation tool. “Stop complaining,” he says, and then silently looks straight in the eyes of the other person. When I heard about this, it dawned on me that any complaint is an expression of a negative state. It gives the complainant a sense of immediate relief, even pleasure.
Learn to control yourself, try to complain less because negative words are also toxins!
Upon reflection, I realized that 90% of the time people complain about
everything and everyone - for weather, government, economy, work, basketball game, spouse, gas price. Complaints are not always obvious. There are masters to disguise them as jokes or to give them such a complex intellectual form that they are capable of misleading almost anyone. Except Hugo. His radar, detecting complaints, has become so sensitive that it never ceases to amaze people who sincerely believe that they never complain.
He explains that negative emotions create a certain inner turmoil that creates pressure.
A complaint, like a car exhaust pipe, relieves pressure for a short period of time. But this negative energy pollutes your environment, and it is doubly toxic to people listening to the complaint.
Most complainers count on the compassion of the audience. Even if it is only an understanding nod of the head or sympathetically lowered eyelids. Most people are so blind that they are ready to support the complainant in criticizing someone with whom they barely know. The camaraderie generated by this interaction is also pleasing to the person who joins the complainant.
Hugo said, and I, on the basis of my own observations, agreed with him that practically all the complainants and those who join them are experiencing moral desolation and depression, remaining alone. Most do not associate these two phenomena with each other and are unable to break the vicious cycle of quantum toxicity, both in relation to themselves and to those around them. When I worked together with Hugo, I watched a few people whose life turned into a real drama. We set ourselves the only goal - to stop the flow of complaints and negative emotions. At the same time, some of these people decided their own health problems that did not succumb to either traditional or alternative methods of treatment, which at first glance were not related to their main problem. First of all, consider whether you belong to the category of complainants. If so, try to stop complaining for whatever reason.
