Nutrition for Atherosclerosis

Proper medical nutrition for atherosclerosis with damage to the vessels of the heart, brain or other organs helps to slow down the development of the disease, reduce metabolic disorders, improve blood circulation, reduce body weight, if necessary, provide nutrition without overloading the cardiovascular and central nervous systems, liver, the kidneys.
Atherosclerosis is a chronic disease that is associated with impaired metabolism of fats, cholesterol, proteins. With atherosclerosis, the state of the walls of the arteries changes, cholesterol is deposited in them and connective tissue (sclerosis) develops around its deposits. The walls of the arteries become denser, their lumen narrows. The blood supply to organs and tissues is disturbed. Atherosclerosis affects the vessels of the brain, coronary arteries of the heart, peripheral vessels. With atherosclerosis with damage to the arteries of the heart, coronary heart disease occurs, which can be complicated by myocardial infarction. The causes and mechanisms of the development of atherosclerosis are diverse. It predisposes and contributes to the progression of atherosclerosis and poor nutrition. Therefore, the main thing in atherosclerosis in clinical nutrition is the restriction of foods that contain fat, cholesterol, easily digestible carbohydrates and other nutrients. It is necessary to eliminate violations of the diet - rare and plentiful meals. It is advisable 1-2 times a week fasting days: cottage cheese, dairy (kefir), vegetable, apple. Care must be taken to ensure that the diet includes as many vitamins as possible. Many vitamins are found in vegetables and fruits.

With atherosclerosis, strong broths are contraindicated. They are either excluded, or the amount of salt is limited in them.
Products that are well absorbed by the body, as well as the most recommended, include greens, jams, jellies, fruits, their juices, honey, flour products, cereals.
Vegetables are recommended in raw or boiled forms. When preparing salads from vegetables, it is necessary to grind them thoroughly, it is best to grate. Boiled vegetables can be given with a small amount of butter, and a little vegetable oil can be added to the raw vegetable salad.
Soups can be given vegetable, dairy and fruit. Homemade noodles are made on proteins, eliminating the yolk, which is rich in cholesterol. From time to time you can eat a soft-boiled egg. All cereal products are recommended.

Dishes and side dishes from cereals, flour, pasta: porridge - buckwheat, oat, millet, barley, etc .; friable, casseroles, groats.
Eggs and dishes from them: soft-boiled eggs - 2-3 a week, protein omelettes.
Fats: vegetable oils for cooking and in ready meals, butter for cooking.
Snacks: vinaigrettes and salads with vegetable oil, salads with seafood, boiled jellied fish and meat, soaked herring, dietary low-fat ham.

Sauces, spices: dairy, on vegetable broth, tomato,
seasoned with sour cream, fruit and berry gravy. Vanillin, cinnamon, citric acid. Limit mayonnaise, horseradish.
