Nutrition Disputes



Food traditions in each region have developed over centuries, and those that are accepted in Russia in Russia are completely unacceptable, say, on the Hindustan Peninsula or on the Japanese Islands. In the history of diet, no one sought to blindly introduce the experience and traditions of other peoples at home or to unify the diet for all people, fitting them under one comb.
However, in recent decades, not even a lot have appeared, but just a lot of original ideas and concepts that do not fit into the framework of traditional ideas about food. Due to the increased interest in new methods of nutrition, they are actively distributed and promoted among the population. Unfortunately, a critical analysis of newly emerging ideas about nutrition in health literature is extremely rare.
The reason for this is not difficult to understand. The current level of working and living conditions has led to a decrease in the share of physical labor and a decrease in the energy consumption of the body. Therefore, there was a need to reduce the calorie intake.
But the reduction in energy saturation of the food eaten, achieved by reducing the intake of proteins, fats and carbohydrates, leads to a simultaneous decrease in the intake of vitamins and mineral salts. And this is a direct path to disease.
Thus, in order to maintain health, each person must decide for himself the task of choosing the most optimal and acceptable diet. This task is not easy in itself, but today it has to be solved against the background of material instability and uncertainty in the future. In such circumstances, many of us tend to clutch at something original and non-standard, promising "universal health and joy." It is unfortunate that at the same time we are not aware of the danger of such promises, of how many fables and absurdities are in them.
Let us try to critically examine some of the most popular nutritional methods, both recognized and not recognized by official medicine.
