So which of the two of them are better able to understand the problems of separate feeding? Both worse! The first one is obviously not right; it is worth remembering that the famous American physiologist and doctor Herbert Shelton was born in 1895, at the very time when Ivan Petrovich experimented on his doggies. As for the second statement about Shelton's plagiarism regarding the discoveries of I.P.Pavlov, such an accusation can hardly be considered convincing because the teachings of Shelton stem not from the work on the physiology of digestion of the Nobel laureate, but from much earlier works of the Swiss physiologist and nutritionist Max Bircher-Benner and American doctor Howard Lewis Hay. It should be noted that neither the one nor the other experimented on animals, and due to the prevailing circumstances they conducted full-scale scientific experiments on the introduction of the theory and practice of separate feeding in the middle of the XIX century on themselves, the result of which was an amazing longevity of the experimenters themselves.
So what is the secret, or rather, the rational grain of separate food? Most likely, as I see it, it lies in the fact that separate nutrition is one of the special cases of clinical nutrition. Successfully used, it, as history has shown, can heal serious diseases that could not be cured by any other means known at the time to medicine.
Let us try, as a good example, to examine the history of the disease and, at first glance, the incredible recovery of the author of separate nutrition, Howard Hay. It is reliably known that at the age of 42 he was diagnosed with glomerulonephritis with severe renal failure, accompanied by significant weight loss (in Hay, it was more than 50 kg). What in this situation makes the future naturopath practically condemned by the luminaries of medicine to death?
He dramatically changes the usual system of his power. Excludes bread, milk, many meat products and goes to separate eating protein and carbohydrate foods. It also completely eliminates animal fats from its diet. And here it is quite appropriate to ask the question: why is it that a certified doctor suddenly uses the paradoxical and seemingly deadly solution in this case, in spite of the usual practice of treating such diseases? Where did this idea come from? And what is it connected with?
And it is connected with the story told to him by a friend, the colonel and the military doctor Mac - Marren, who returned from a long expedition to Tibet. Let's try to consider the mechanism of Howard Lewis Hay’s miraculous self-healing. To do this, first of all, it is necessary to imagine the condition of the patient with glomerulonephritis, burdened by the same renal failure. A distinctive feature of glomerulonephritis is inflammation of the nephrons - the main structural elements of the kidneys, which remove nitrogenous compounds from the body. And we well know that their accumulation in the blood leads to irreversible poisoning of the patient with nitrogen, resulting in death from renal failure.
We also understood well that the main nitrogen-containing products are primarily meat, fish, cottage cheese, milk and a number of plant products (beans, soybeans, beans).
