The nature and types of his accentuation

Character is a set of stable personality traits that determine the attitude of a person towards people towards the work performed. Character manifests itself in activity and communication and includes that which gives a person’s behavior a specific, characteristic shade.

The main problems of characterology are the establishment of types of character in order to predict human behavior in various situations. The idea of ​​character can be obtained by knowing the specifics of actions, deeds. Movements and actions, the fulfillment of which becomes a need under certain conditions, are called habits. Habitual actions of a person, repeating themselves, become character traits, influencing the position of a person in public life and the attitude of other people towards him.

Typology of character by E. Krechmer: asthenic, athletic and pyknic, which he associated with the type of character.

1. Asthenic type: Asthenic is usually a thin or thin person, because of his thinness, it seems higher than it actually is. It has thin skin, narrow shoulders, thin arms, an elongated and flat chest with underdeveloped muscles and weak fat accumulations.

2. Athletic type is characterized by a highly developed skeleton and musculature. Such a person is average or tall, with broad shoulders, a powerful chest. He has a dense, tall head.

3. The pyknic type is characterized by developed internal body cavities, a tendency to obesity with underdeveloped muscles and the musculoskeletal system. Such a man of medium height with a short neck.

The main types of character accentuation

Character accentuations are extreme versions of the norm in which individual character traits are strengthened, as a result of which a person is vulnerable to certain psychogenic influences with good resistance to others.

There are two degrees of character accentuation - explicit and hidden.

1. Hyperactive. A person is very energetic, independent, striving for leadership, risk, adventures. He does not respond to comments, there is no self-criticism.

+ Energy, thirst for activity, initiative, a sense of new, optimism.

- frivolity, a tendency to immoral acts, a frivolous attitude to the duties assigned to him, irritability in the circle of close people. Conflict is possible with monotonous work, loneliness, in conditions of strict discipline, constant moralizing.

2. Dysthymic (dysthymic). This type of people has a constantly low mood, sadness, isolation, laconicism, pessimism.

Conflicts are observed in situations that require vigorous activity.

3. Cycloid (cyclotyme). The accentuation of character is manifested in cyclically alternating periods of rise and fall in mood. During the period of mood elevation, they manifest themselves as people with hyperthymic accentuation, during a recession period - with dysthymic.

4. Emotive (emotionality). This person is overly sensitive, vulnerable and deeply in the slightest trouble. He is too sensitive to comments, failures, so he often has a sad mood. In conflicts rarely enters and plays a passive role in them. Insults do not throw out, and keeps them to yourself.

+ I like his altruism, compassion, pity, an expression of joy about other people's successes. Conflict perceives tragic.

5. Demonstrative (demonstrative). This man seeks to be in the center of attention and achieves his goals at any cost: tears, fainting, scandals, illness, boasting, clothes, unusual hobbies, lies. He easily forgets about his unseemly deeds.

6. Excitable (excitability). These people have irritability, lack of restraint, gloominess, tediousness, but flattery, helpfulness (as a disguise), a tendency to rudeness and foul language or silence, slowness in conversation are possible.

10. Exalted (exaltation). People with this type of accentuation have a very changeable mood, talkativeness, increased distractibility to external events. Their emotions are pronounced and are reflected in love.

+ Altruism, compassion, artistic taste, artistic talent, the brightness of feelings and affection for friends, like interlocutors.

- excessive impressionability, patheticism, alarmism, susceptibility to despair are not their best features. Failures and woeful events are perceived tragically, have a tendency to neurotic depression.

11. Introverted. People of this type of accentuation are characterized by low sociability, isolation. They are away from everyone and enter into communication with other people as necessary, most often immersed in themselves, their thoughts.

- upholding their unrealistic interests, attitudes and having their own point of view, which is sharply different from the majority opinion, repels people from them.
