FOREWORD

Dear readers! It is very easy to write a preface to a book, which, of which I have no doubt, is doomed to success. What allows me to make such a bold statement?

Firstly, the fact that for a very long time in Ukraine did not publish clinical lectures on internal medicine, which students and young doctors are looking forward to.

Secondly, most of the textbooks and manuals used in the educational process are outdated and do not meet the requirements of today, and the translated American textbook “Fundamentals of Medical Knowledge and Treatment Methods for Davidson” cannot fill the whole gap in the formation of clinical thinking among students and doctors, which we have at present.

Thirdly, this is the department from which these lectures came out. Over the 153 years of its existence, she saw so many new ideas, methods, classifications, recommendations, textbooks and teaching aids that went not only in step with the times, but also ahead of him, which you involuntarily think: “The spirit of the great ancestors - Obraztsov, Strazhesko, Yanovsky, Vasilenko, Ivanov, Burchinsky invisibly helps their followers and today's employees! ”

Finally, fourthly, these are the authors. One is quite young, but for several years now he has been giving a full course of lectures on internal medicine, associate professor S. M. Tkach. The other is Professor V.G. Perederi, whose original approaches to many issues of names and definitions of diseases, their classifications, clinical features, treatment and prevention are well known to us from previous publications. Monographs with his author’s participation are always unexpected, bold, intriguingly interesting and extremely useful for doctors of any medical profession of all generations.

The authors represented, continuing the glorious school of their predecessors, remain therapists in the broad sense of the word. Therefore, it is on the basis of general therapeutic positions that the “Clinical Lectures on Internal Medicine” presented to your court have been written.
There is no “superdeep” inherent in the monographs and lectures of narrow specialists, but there is a depth sufficient for students, doctors and teachers of all ages and “narrow” specialties, which forced them to choose life itself, reprofiling the departments where they work in gastroenterological, cardiology, pulmonological, etc. Unfortunately, the rupture of therapy as a whole, for many years has served a poor service not only for doctors, but, most importantly, for patients.

Therefore, “Clinical Lectures on Internal Medicine,” written by therapists V.G. Perederey and S.M. Tkach in the best traditions of his department, inspires me with confidence in the viability of Ukraine’s therapy of tomorrow.

I am particularly impressed by the authors ’guidelines for the International Classification of Diseases 10 revision / ICD-10 /. Despite the fact that this WHO classification is primarily statistical, the world's leading experts in various fields of medicine took part in its development, and therefore it is based on the latest achievements in all medical disciplines. The application in our daily practice by our doctors and students of the ICD-10 revision will allow them to speak the same language with doctors from other countries, understand and complement each other!

I am sure that many readers will enjoy reading the first introductory lecture, and this interest and pleasure will not leave them to the end.

I want to wish students to delve deeply into the material, deal with all controversial and completely unclear questions both in lectures and in practical classes, in order to become excellent doctors and, in spite of everything, to enjoy and satisfy their medical and preventive and educational activities!
