Foreword

When a doctor picks up a newly published book, he asks himself a series of questions: is it intended for me, does it contain enough up-to-date information, can I use the information I need here and now, and, ultimately, will this book help me it is better to diagnose and treat diseases in specific patients, to properly organize their rehabilitation in such a difficult socio-economic environment, in the real health conditions of Russia in transition.

Conscious of this Guide, the authors sought to make it as efficient as possible to meet the urgent needs of internists who work in primary health care: in some structures that provide outpatient care, this is already a general practitioner (family doctor), in others it’s also a district doctor therapist. Material for each nosological form is given in a strictly defined sequence: definition of the disease (definition), its place in the ICD-10, frequency in the population, etiology, pathogenesis, clinic, classification, differential diagnosis. Management of the patient begins with emergency conditions. Having stopped them at the prehospital stage, the doctor determines the "patient's route" - whether it is necessary to be hospitalized and, if necessary, to the department of which profile and category.
The methods of planned, mainly outpatient, comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation therapy are described in detail.

In addition to the traditionally set out questions of temporary and permanent incapacity for work for each disease, the content of the 2nd column of the “Regulations on military medical examination” (requirements for the state of health of persons subject to conscription for military service) [“Regulations on military medical examination No. 390 of 20.04 .1995 g. ”].

We found it useful to highlight the issues of preliminary and periodic medical examinations with the relevant regulation of admission to professional activities limited to the disease [Order of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation No. 90 of 03/14/1996].

The manual as a whole is conceived as a doctor’s handbook providing answers to his everyday questions.

If our plan was successful at least partially, the authors will consider their work not in vain.
