GAME ACTIVITY

The leading in this period is the subject-manipulative activity. The child does not play, but manipulates objects, including toys, focusing on the actions themselves with them.

Nevertheless, at the end of an early age, the game in its original (subject) forms nevertheless appears. This is the so-called directorial game in which the objects used by the child are endowed with game meaning. For example, a cube transported with a growl on the table turns into a car in the eyes of a boy. Such games are short-lived and occur occasionally; they are characterized by the primitiveness of the plot and the uniformity of the actions performed. But at the next age stage, they will become one of the sources of the role-playing game.

At an early age, a symbolic game arises and develops. For the development of such a game, the appearance of symbolic or substitute actions is important. When, for example, a doll is laid on a wooden block instead of a bed, this is a substitution. When a child, turning the doll upside down, shakes it and reports that it is pouring salt from the salt shaker, these are even more complicated substitute actions.

During this period of time, the first attempts to appeal to visual activity in the form of drawing on paper appear. First, children depict scribbles that can represent anything: a cat, a dog or a person, any other object familiar to the child.
In the third year of life, children's drawings reveal more similarities with the depicted object.

In the second year of life, the child reproduces the actions of adults with objects, he has objective imitation games. They represent the first steps towards mastering the norms and forms of adult behavior, and then to the formation of certain personal qualities in a child.

Later, a role-playing game appears. Its occurrence is associated with a number of circumstances. First, a symbolic function should have reached a high level in the child by this time, he must learn to use objects not only for their intended purpose, but also in accordance with the plan of the game. Secondly, the child should have a need to copy the actions of adults. Thirdly, he must learn to interact with other people - children and adults - in the game.

In the role-playing game, the child copies the ways people handle objects and the ways people communicate with each other in various social situations. Thus, the child better assimilates objective actions, communication norms, as well as role-playing behavior. The role-playing game from a functional point of view can be considered as preparing a child for participation in public life in various social roles.
