FOREWORD

The book “VALEOLOGY” presented to your attention is the first textbook for students in Russia, which reflects numerous theoretical, practical and non-traditional factors that influence the state of human health.

Written in the form of meaningful, revised and time-tested information material on social medicine, hygiene, psychophysiology, psychology and physiology - reflects the significant need of students for health issues.

The relevance of such a book, when a flood of unreasonable and unprofessional information on health problems hit us, is not in doubt.

The author, based on many years of experience working in universities of various profiles, giving lectures in various regions of Russia and the CIS on the Knowledge society, tried to present the material in the form of lectures from medical, social and psychological positions in an interesting and intelligible way, while not deviating from scientific sound, modern interpretations and currents on health problems.

The book is written according to the edited transcripts of lectures given, in the form of appeals to the listener. This is the author’s style and right to present information in this form!

The high professionalism of the author, who has medical, psychological and pedagogical education, made it possible to highlight a selected range of issues on a healthy lifestyle, medical, social, psychological and legal aspects of longevity, cardiovascular diseases, alcoholism, abortion, physical activity and other socially significant issues.

Noteworthy is the block of problems discussed in the lectures on sex education, psychology of intimate relationships, assessment of one's health and rehabilitation measures at a young age. Having great social significance, these ambiguously addressed issues will undoubtedly attract the attention of future educators. The knowledge of these burning problems described in the book by the author - a doctor and a psychologist, will certainly be useful in pedagogical activity not only for teachers, but also for students for whom the book is intended.

Impressed by the motto of the book - “If there is a problem, it’s better to be honest about it!”

Indeed, some problems were hushed up earlier (the importance of environmental factors on health, some statistics on alcoholism, fertility, mortality, etc. were underestimated).

The younger generation “drew” their curiosity (consider the physiological need - libido) about sexual intimacy, sex and erotica from various underground sources.
And now, in the context of the formation of a new economy, "... Russia is ahead of Europe ..." on the "tabloid" scientifically unfounded literature, on ... all problems - sex, health, nutrition, consuming, fascination, salvation and treatment ... from all human ailments ... Quackery and stupefying of the people - there is!

The merit of the author is not the concealment of problems, but their description from a scientific, pedagogical and medical position - directly, boldly and reasonably.

Human health depends on the factors that determine his health.

Academician S. Likhachev was right in expressing at his 90th birthday on November 28, 1996 the idea that "... not being determines consciousness, but consciousness determines being."

Therefore, the tasks that the author of this book poses for future sculptors of the soul and consciousness - educators - training, prevention, the provision of moral psychological and physical assistance in order to learn the ABCs of health and longevity - are generally fulfilled.

VALEOLOGY - the science of health, is interpreted in this book with a deep knowledge of the subject and the moral concept of the problem - impeccably and truthfully.

I hope that students and teachers of pedagogical universities, colleges and lyceums with a humanitarian bias, as well as numerous followers of a healthy lifestyle, will find many useful and interesting in this book for effective educational, moral and cognitive activities.

We are with Academician N.A. Agadzhanyan, as reviewers, are very satisfied. The first edition of "Valeology" was a great success, and the responses to this book are very positive.

I believe that the second edition has matured in connection with the relevance of maintaining public health. Valueology - as a scientific discipline - has become popular, mandatory and necessary for young people.

The revised text, a new lecture and interesting plans for the next edition inspire optimism. The author subtly captures the spirit of the times and it is very pleasing.
